Let's Eat Rice Dumplings And Race Dragon Boats On Dragon Boat Festival

Time flies, it is midsummer again, and we are about to welcome the annual Dragon Boat Festival. Stores and shopping malls are preparing gifts for the Dragon Boat Festival, and most families have begun to pick mugwort and wash glutinous rice. If you accidentally walk into a residential area, you will find that the streets and alleys are filled with the aroma of glutinous rice and mugwort. Next, let us welcome the Dragon Boat Festival and learn about it.

The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival can be traced back to the Warring States Period. In China, the Dragon Boat Festival was originally held to commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan. According to legend, during a political struggle, Qu Yuan was falsely accused of being a traitor and demoted by King Huai of Chu. The political enemies intensified their persecution of Qu Yuan, spreading rumors and accusing him of colluding with the enemy and even threatening his life. Faced with the emperor's distrust and the persecution of his political enemies, Qu Yuan felt disappointed and even desperate, and eventually chose to commit suicide by jumping into the river to show his loyalty to the country and his care for the people. In order to commemorate this great hero, people set June 10 of the lunar calendar as the Dragon Boat Festival.

We all know that there are customs of dragon boat racing and eating zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival. What is the historical reason for this? According to legend, in order to prevent fish and shrimp from eating Qu Yuan's body, people wrapped glutinous rice in zong leaves and threw them into the river. In addition, in order to scare away fish and shrimp, people beat gongs and drums and rowed boats down the river. This is the custom of dragon boat racing and eating zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival that was later formed. Today, dragon boat racing has developed into a very challenging and ornamental water sport. The contestants need to paddle the dragon boat and move forward quickly on the rivers to compete for the championship. In addition, some areas also have customs such as hanging wormwood leaves, drinking realgar wine, and wearing sachets. These activities all have the meaning of exorcising evil and avoiding disasters.

As a traditional Chinese festival, the Dragon Boat Festival is listed as a national statutory holiday. All organizations also take this opportunity to reward employees who have worked hard for more than half a year, and our Anern company is no exception. The company not only sends blessings to each employee, but also distributes gifts to reward each employee for their hard work and dedication to the company. The Dragon Boat Festival is both a continuation of Chinese traditional culture and a manifestation of modern humanistic feelings.
